Supporting Global Learning Opportunities
Through GJK Facility Services, George Stamas AM has long supported initiatives that open doors to education, leadership, and sustainability. One example is GJK’s partnership with RMIT University to fund scholarships for students participating in the Business Beyond Borders Study Tour, an international program designed to provide hands-on experience in global business, innovation, and sustainable practice.
The GJK Facility Services Scholarships ensure that talented students can take part in international learning opportunities, regardless of financial or personal circumstances. They are awarded to students who demonstrate leadership potential, a commitment to sustainability, and a drive to innovate.
The Business Beyond Borders program, delivered by RMIT University and supported by the Spain-Australia Council Foundation (FCEA), immerses students in global innovation ecosystems. Participants visit leading organisations such as Wayra, Indra, and ACCIONA; engage with groups like Barcelona Global, UN-Habitat, and Mobile World Capital; and meet with Australian and international trade representatives to explore collaboration and sustainable growth.
As part of their experience, students share their learnings with the GJK team, presenting insights into international approaches to sustainability, entrepreneurship and business leadership, and reflecting on how these ideas can inform Australia’s own practices.
“It’s rewarding to see how experiences like this help students think differently and bring new ideas back to Australia,” said George Stamas AM. “Education opens doors and by supporting scholarships, we help ensure those doors are open to everyone.”
Supporting education and sustainability is a core part of GJK’s broader philanthropic mission. Alongside its scholarship programs, GJK invests in initiatives that promote workforce development, women’s empowerment, and sustainable growth across Australia and New Zealand, helping build stronger, more inclusive communities for the future.
